Last weekend, my boyfriend and I checked out the Renaissance Festival happening at Fort Tryon Park (upper west side of Manhattan). There were dozens of shows and acts that were occurring along the path in addition to booths of merchandise and sampling. We saw aerial acrobats, a Robin Hood short play, some fencing, giant turkey legs, and caught the end of a Quidditch game. We saw festival goers in extravagant costumes as well as adorable children.

Since the festival circled around the Cloister musuem, we decided to go inside as well. It's a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, dedicated to the art and architecture of medieval Europe. There was a pretty garden within the museum and out on the terrace had a magnificent view of the Hudson river.
It was my first time going to this festival -- I honestly had no idea they were doing this here before this year (this year was their 28th). My boyfriend loves this time period, so when I did find out about it, I thought it'd be fun -- and it was!
Would you ever go to a Renaissance Festival?

I looooove Ren Fest. I used to go every year but then they jacked the prices up Disney World style. I can no longer afford to go. Lol. But I'm living vicariously through you now. ;)
ReplyDeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteAlthough a bit corny, I do think these festivals are super cool because I like acrobatics and jousting and the hubs loves a good turkey leg. :)

ReplyDeleteI love Renaissance festivals! I have never been to this one, but when we lived in NY we went to the one upstate, which is HUGE! I loved every minute of it, it was awesome.
